THE MINIMAL MAKEUP COLLECTION

I suppose I'm a bit of a minimalist, I have a very limited collection of everything, makeup included. What I do have, I consider essential. If you are considering starting a makeup collection of your own or clearing yours out and are wondering which to keep, here is a list of my must haves

1. Eye Liner

Any one who knows me knows I appreciate a good cat eye. In fact I don't remember the last time I left home without a winged eye. Nyx's Super Skinny Eye Marker in Carbon Black, L.A. Colours Grafixeyeliner in Dark Brown and Revlon ColourStay Liquid liner in Blackest Black (all pictured) are my favourited liquid liners. Any one of them is an awesome addition to a beginner or minimalist collection.

For those that prefer a simple lined eye, I find that Rimmel Scandaleyes Kohl Kajal and Rimmel Exaggerate are the best non-liquid liners to have in your collection.

2. Lippies

Second to a good dramatic cat eye, a bright and happy lip colour is a must have in my collection. I'm a huge fan of matte lips and warm, autumny colours. Bobbie Brown's Black Raspberry Lip colour, Nyx soft matte lip cream in Milan and Yardley London Stayfast Lipstick in Raisin and Mac lip liner in Currant (not pictured) are easy to wear colours that suit everyone I've ever seen wear them.

3. Nail Polish

Every girl should own a good nude and black nail colour. They just look good and they are so9 simple and wearable. I don't have a favourite black nail polish but I do have a favourite nude. Nudes can be tricky and easier botched, I love Revlon's ColourStay nude. It's lasting and wearable.

4. Foundation

A good foundation should not mask your natural skin colour but enhance it. Mac's Matchmaster foundation does exactly that. I have mine in 9.0

THE BAG GUIDE: What's in My Bag?

I'm one of those girls with a ready-for-the-apocalyse bag... well that was until I came across www.into-mind.com and fell in love with minimalism. I've since decide to declutter my life and indulge in simplicity.

The first step I took towards simplifying my life was clearing out my bag. The following are the things I decided where bag essentials and hence the only things I decided to keep.

1. Moisturiser

Everybody needs a good moisturiser to help keep your hands feeling soft and looking young. I found that Epimax is really good at doing just that so I almost always have it with me. If it's not Epimax, it's The Body Shop Wild Rose Hand Cream with SPF 15, Palmer’s Intensive Relief Hand Cream or Nivea Hand Q10 Plus Age-Defying Hand Cream.

2. Basic Make-up

Usually, I carry my Liquid Liner pen(NYX Super Skinny), my everyday lippie (Bobbie Brown Black Raspberry) and a good lip moisturiser (Justine Tissue Oil Lip Therapy or any Soft Lips). It's good to have the essentials around for quick reups. Carrying the whole makeup bag with you can be clumsy and unnecessary so cut it down to three pieces from your collection.

3. My Notebook, Pen and Micro SD

Usually people remember to carry the notebook and pen to write down things to remember or take numbers down but not many remember to carry a micro SD adapter or flash drive. I promise it does come in handy for things like downloading or saving important documents in a hurry.

4. Power Bank and Train Card

I keep both in case of emergencies
